Based in Prairie Village, Kansas, The Village Prairie is a Kansas City-based Americana band known for its genre-blending sound that touches on classic rock, country, blues, and folk. Originally formed in 2018 as a project for singer-songwriter Kyle Francis Aaron, the group has evolved into a full ensemble featuring a mix of intricate harmonies and heartfelt, emotional songwriting.

Evolution and Sound
The band was built around the compositions of Kyle Aaron, later morphing into a collective featuring Dan Kiddle (lead guitar), Tony Batenhorst (drums), Nicki White (vocals), Leo Johns (piano and organ), Joe Mentesana (bass), and Joanna Metsker (violin). Their sound is frequently described as having a "heartland" feel, with 1970s-style guitar work from Kiddle and honky-tonk piano elements from Johns.

Following the tragic passing of Kyle Aaron’s sister, Moira, to neuroendocrine cancer in 2022, the band focused on recording their debut album, Bolt From the Blue. Released in 2024, the album serves as a poignant tribute to loss and healing, capturing the essence of their live performances.

Recent Work and Style
In May 2025, The Village Prairie released their sophomore album, Before the Devil. The band continues to build a loyal following in the Kansas City area with their modern Americana, characterized by storytelling and tight musical arrangements.
